Disney Casting Calls for 'The Lone Ranger' scheduled for March and April, 2012

Disney Casting Calls The Lone Ranger

Disney Studios "The Lone Ranger" will hit theaters May 31, 2013.
AB Media Publishing, LLC.

Jerry Bruckheimer Films and Walt Disney Pictures have begun principal photography on the star studded feature film "The Lone Ranger". Shooting is taking place in New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah through July 20, 2012. The casting director is seeking Caucasian men and women, Native American men, and Asian men to work as extras. Open casting calls are scheduled for March and April, 2012 in Colorado and Utah. New Mexico open casting calls have already taken place.

Gore Verbinski, who is best known for directing Johnny Depp in the first three Disney "Pirates of the Caribbean" films, will again direct Depp in "The Lone Ranger" from an adapted screenplay written by Justin Haythe. Verbinski's Blind Wink Productions has been brought on board as one of the production companies and Classic Media will distrubute "Lone Ranger" overseas. Jerry Bruckheimer, who has won 7 Primetime Emmy Awards and is currently on the National Board of Directors of the Producers Guild of America, is producing "The Lone Ranger". Chad Oman and Mike Stenson will executive produce for Jerry Bruckheimer Films.

Three time Academy Award nominated actor Johnny Depp has described the film as an update on the television series, with the screenplay focused more on him as the sidekick Tonto. Depp has stated that Tonto's role will challenge ideas about Native Americans that were portrayed in the original television series.

Armie Hammer plays John Reid/The Lone Ranger. Hammer recently co-starred along with Julia Roberts and Lily Collins in The Brothers Grimm version of Snow White titled "Mirror Mirror" which is set to be released on March 16, 2012. James Frain will be playing a hard-nosed foreman who works for the story’s chief villain, railroad tycoon Latham Cole, played by two-time Academy Award nominatee Tom Wilkinson. Frain's character oversees Chinese and Indian rail workers. British actress Ruth Wilson has been cast as Rebecca Reid, who is married to Dan Reid, head of the Texas Rangers and older brother of The Lone Ranger.

Other Lone Ranger cast members include James Badge Dale as Dan Reid; Academy Award winner Timothy Hutton; Golden Globe nominated Canadian actor Barry Pepper (The Green Mile) as leader of the seventh cavalry Captain J. Fuller; Dwight Yoakam (Sling Blade) as Butch Cavendish, the villainous leader of the Cavendish gang that attacks the Texas Rangers; and two-time Academy Award nominee Helena Bonham Carter as the madam of a brothel who deals with gentlemen and scoundrels.

Story:

Left for dead in an ambush with five other Texas Rangers, lawman John Reid (Armie Hammer) survives and is nursed back to health by an Indian scout named Tonto (Johnny Depp). He then dons a mask to avenge the murders of his comrades and to foil evildoers, never accepting payment for his services. His gratis vigilantism is made possible by the silver mine he inherits from one of his slain brothers - the same mine that affords him his endless supply of trademark silver bullets.

Note:

This film is using the working title of "Silver Bullet". A working title is the temporary name of a film used during its development. Working titles are used primarily for two reasons - the  first being that an official title has not yet been decided upon and  the working title is being used as a filler for naming purposes, the second being to intentionally disguise the production of a high profile film. In some cases a working title may ultimately be used as the official title. This "title ruse" is now a very common practice by which these high-profile films or television series are given a fake working title to keep its production a secret, and to prevent price gouging by suppliers, casual theft and undesirable attention. The release title of this film will in all likelihood be "The Lone Ranger".

Walt Disney Pictures 'McFarland' auditions and casting calls in Los Angeles

Disney Film McFarland Casting Mexicans

Disney's "McFarland" will film in the Central California Valley.
AB Media Publishing, LLC

Mayhem Pictures in association with Walt Disney Pictures are set to begin filming the biopic feature film "McFarland" in February, 2012. After an open casting call last December, 2011 in Bakersfield failed to discover the film's stars and supporting roles, auditions will take place in Los Angeles. The studio and production company are open to new talent for the starring roles, which will go to teen and young Latino males.

The film "McFarland" tells the true story of Jim "Blanco" White, a high school track and field coach who inspired his team to greatness on and off the field. Gary Smith of Sports Illustrated wrote, "No one can figure it out, how the runners with the shortest legs and the grimmest lives began winning everything once Blanco took over the program in 1980. Jim and his wife Cheryl invested endless time and love in the youth. They did much more than was required of them so the boys could receive what they otherwise would not. They were always there for them, pushing them on and always taking them on trips, to movies in a town with a theater, and on fishing trips.

Jim White's students all were from families who were from Mexican farm worker families, and faced tremendous challenges in their personal and academic lives. McFarland, population 8,011 in 1990, is something closer to a village transplanted from south of the border. Nine in 10 residents are of Mexican descent. One-third come from the village Huanusco, in the state of Zacatecas, Mexico.

Critically acclaimed New Zealand filmmaker Niki Caro is directing "McFarland" from a screenplay written by Grant Thompson, based on the 1997 Los Angeles Times article titled "A Labor of Love for Boys of McFarland". Caro wrote and directed the Academy Award nominated film "Whale Rider" starring Keisha Castle-Hughes, and also directed the Warner Bros. Pictures film "North Country" starring Academy Award winner Charlize Theron, and she wrote/produced/directed the fascinating romantic film "The Vintner's Luck" starring Academy Award nominated actors Vera Farmiga and Keisha Castle-Hughes. Caro also penned the upcoming Warner Bros. Pictures film "The Boy Who Fell Out of the Sky," based on the true story of a boy who died in the 1988 Pam Am Flight 103 airline terrorist bombing over Lockerbie, Scotland.

Mayhem Pictures' Mark Ciardi and Gordon Gray are producing "McFarland". Disney has reupped its first-look deal with Mayhem Pictures. Ciardi and Gray previously produced three Disney sports drama feature films - "Miracle," "Invincible," and "Secretariat". They also produced the Walt Disney Pictures films "The Game Plan," "The Rookie," and the upcoming "Wish List". The sports film productions by Mayham Pictures is in part due to the fact that Mark Ciardi is a former Major League Baseball pitcher. He played one major league season for the Milwaukee Brewers in 1987.

Casting director Sheila Jaffe, who is brought in often by producer Mark Ciardi, is casting "McFarland". Jaffe has been nominated for eight Primetime Emmy Awards, one for which she won for "The Sopranos", as well a four-time Casting Society of America Artion Award winner. Sheila Jaffe is based in New York, but sets up casting out of the Mayhem Pictures production office when casting their films.

Auditions and Casting Details:

In this third installment of the Marvel Studios film adaptations of "Iron Man", the storyline is being described by writer/director Shane Black as being a Tom Clancy-thriller, with Iron Man fighting real world villains. Black stated "the studio wasn't happy with the result of Iron Man 2, a result that pretty much came about due to a rushed production in an attempt to hit a release date rather than simply make a good film, but I digress. Iron Man 3 will not be another 'two men in iron suits fighting each other'.

Walt Disney Pictures '20,000 Leagues Under The Sea' Casting Information

Disney's 20000 Leagues Under The Sea Auditions

Disney's "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea" is set to shoot February, 2012.
AB Media Publishing, LLC

Disney auditions will begin soon on the modern film adaptation of the classic science fiction novel "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea" by French writer Jules Verne. Shooting is scheduled to begin in February, 2012. All of the film's roles are up for grabs, including starring, co-starring, and supporting roles. This adaptation is not to be confused with producer Ridley Scott's project in development at 20th Century Fox.

Two-time Academy Award nominee David Fincher will direct "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea" from a screenplay written by Andrew Kevin Walker. Fincher and Walker first collaborated on the blockbuster hit "Se7en" in 1995. That film - which starred Brad Pitt, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Morgan Freeman - cost $33 million to make and grossed over $350 million at the box office, also earning two Oscar nominations. Fincher's other directorial credits include "The Game," "Panic Room," "The Social Network," and the upcoming "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo". "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea" will be filmed in 3D with quite a bit of CGI and a lot of motion capture work.

President of Production for Walt Disney Studios and three-time primetime Emmy Award nominee Sean Bailey will oversee production for the studio. Bailey formed the Disney production banner Idealogy Inc., which produced "Tron: Legacy". Brigham Taylor, who served as Production Executive on "Tron: Legacy", will likely hold the same position on "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea". Taylor is Executive VP of Production and Development for Walt Disney Pictures. John Brooks Klingenbeck will executive produce for Red Hill Entertainment.

In addition to Ridley Scott's incarnation of 20,000 Leagues at Twentieth Century Fox, Sam Raimi also is working on making his own version of the title originally set up at New Line. David Fincher was lined up to direct that project for Raimi, but when McG left the Disney version, Fincher departed the New Line project and subsequently signed on to direct Disney's film. Fincher's next movie will hit theaters on on December 21, 2011 and is titled "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" starring Rooney Mara, who also starred in Fincher's "The Social Network".
